Shafeena Premji
I have a Masters of Health Administration (MHA) degree and am currently a first year medical student at the University of Calgary. My background and work experience in obesity is through my previous position as Treatment Program Coordinator at the Pediatric Obesity Clinic in Calgary, Alberta – a multi-disciplinary weight management program for children and youth. I have attended three obesity conferences in the past year, all sponsored by CON’s Student Travel Award Program, and have worked closely with numerous members of CON’s Board of Directors in various capacities.
I am currently involved in the developmental stages of ACORN (Arresting Childhood Obesity through Research and Networking) alongside CON. My MHA thesis involves a pilot environmental scan of the current state of pediatric weight management programs in Canada which enabled me to interact with numerous pediatric endocrinologists, pediatricians, and other health professionals at a national level who are involved in pediatric obesity.
